Breaking: Okpebholo Disowns South-South Governors’ Position on Emergency Rule, Says He Was Not Consulted

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has distanced himself from the South-South Governors Forum’s opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State……..READ MORE

While the forum rejected Tinubu’s decision, arguing that the political climate does not justify such a measure, Okpebholo stated that he was neither consulted nor informed before the position was taken.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Okpebholo expressed support for Tinubu’s intervention, stating that the president understands the situation and is working towards restoring peace in Rivers State.

This comes after Tinubu declared a state of emergency on March 18, suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and 27 House of Assembly members, and appointing Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd.) as the state’s sole administrator.
