Esther Adekanla was last seen on February 12, 2024, prompting concerns from neighbors when all attempts to contact her proved futile. Detectives from the Dutse Police Division swiftly responded to the report and made a grim discovery upon reaching her home on February 15, 2024.

Upon forced entry, they found Esther’s lifeless body in the sitting room, surrounded by pools of blood, with visible cuts on her head and neck. Even more distressing was the sight of her 11-year-old daughter, Christiana Michael, found locked in a store with injuries to her head but miraculously alive.

Both victims were rushed to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital, where Esther was pronounced dead by medical professionals. Her body was then conveyed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for further examination through autopsy procedures.

In response to this heinous crime, the Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, and his team visited the bereaved family to offer their condolences and assure them of justice. He promptly directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, vowing to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face the full weight of the law.
