BREAKING: Police Stop Rally For Tinubu (DETAILS)

On Tuesday, police in Niger State halted a massive lockdown rally to promote the presidential candidacy of the All Progressives Congress (APCAsiwaju )’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kassim Shettima.

The event was also intended to rally support for the APC’s governorship candidate in Niger State, Hon. Umar Bago, and his running mate, Comrade Yakubu Garba.

Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate and National Coordinator of Project 774 for Tinubu/Shettima 2023, organized the event.

Police operatives locked and barricaded the gates of the New Bussa Township Stadium in Niger’s Borgu Local Government Area, which had already been fully rehabilitated and decorated in preparation for the event, which was scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

It was gathered that two pickup trucks manned by heavily armed Mobile Policemen were stationed at the stadium’s gate, while regular policemen locked the gates and barred supporters from entering.

Journalists who arrived the venue at about 8.30am were turned back.

Three pickup vans outfitted with guns and loaded with heavily armed Nigerian Army personnel were seen patrolling the stadium.

Wasiu Abiodun, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Niger, said the security cordon was put in place to prevent a “breach of security” based on credible intelligence.
