BREAKING: Prominent Judge Confirmed Dead As Nigerians Await Presidential Tribunal Judgement From Five Judges

The former Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Justice Kate Abiri, passed away at the age of 65 in a Yenagoa hospital due to an undisclosed illness.

Her death occurred in the early hours of Thursday, August 3rd, 2023. Justice Abiri had an illustrious career, serving as the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State for 15 years.

During her tenure, she administered oaths to former governors Seriake Dickson and Nyesom Wike of Bayelsa and Rivers State, respectively, as well as the incumbent governor, Douye Diri.

Born on January 13th, 1958, Justice Abiri obtained her Bachelor of Law degree with Second Class Lower Division from the University of Jos in 1983. In the same year, she was admitted to the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Bibobra Kitchen, the Chairman of Aleibiri Federated Community, Yenagoa Branch, issued a statement informing the public of Justice Kate Abiri’s passing. He announced that the four-day mourning and gathering would commence on Thursday, August 3rd, at her Compound, Former Commissioner’s Quarters, Opolo, Yenagoa, to pay tribute to their late daughter.
