Breaking: Tinubu Comments On Egbetokun’s Resignation, Disu Becomes Acting IGP

President Bola Tinubu has expressed gratitude to the former Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his years of service and dedication to Nigeria. According to a statement released via his account, the President commended Egbetokun for his professionalism, commitment, and efforts in strengthening the nation’s internal security architecture.

President Tinubu also announced the appointment of Assistant Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu as Acting Inspector General of Police, effective immediately, citing current security challenges in the country. The President stated that he would soon convene the Nigeria Police Council to formally consider Disu’s appointment as substantive Inspector General before submitting his name to the Senate for confirmation.

“I have accepted the resignation of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, following his letter citing pressing family considerations. I thank him for his decades of distinguished service to the Nigeria Police Force and our nation. His dedication, professionalism, and commitment to strengthening our internal security architecture are deeply appreciated,” the statement read.

President Tinubu added that Disu’s experience, operational expertise, and leadership skills would provide steady direction for the police at this critical time. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to a professional, accountable, and fully equipped Nigeria Police Force capable of fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities.
