BREAKING: We Don’t Know Quantities Of New Naira Notes Printed – CBN

Aisha Ahmad, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria in charge of Financial Stability, has stated that she is unaware of the number of new notes printed and released for circulation by the CBN.

She stated this in response to lawmakers’ questions during her appearance before the House of Representatives to brief the House on the apex bank’s cashless policy and cash withdrawal limits.

The lawmakers agreed on Wednesday that a deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) should appear to brief the House today (Thursday) in the absence of CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, who is away on medical leave.

Sada Soli, a lawmaker, raised concerns about the non-availability of the new notes days after they were released to the public during the CBN deputy governor’s grilling and asked her to disclose the quantities of new notes printed.

However, in response to the question, the CBN deputy governor stated that she does not know the number of notes printed by the apex bank.
