BREAKING: Wike Reacts To Rumour On Use Of N300 Million Bulletproof Car
On Wednesday, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, refuted the circulating rumor that the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) acquired a N300 Million Armoured Lexus LX600, just a day after his swearing-in by President Bola Tinubu.
During an interview with journalists immediately after touring the Abuja Rail Mass Transit facility, he cautioned against spreading damaging misinformation about others.
In his statement, he said, “We are now heading to the office to gather direct reports from each department, but I have noticed the social media chatter about how you (FCTA Permanent Secretary) supposedly purchased a N300 Million Naira bulletproof car that I am using.”

He urged reporters to verify the accuracy of such claims by inspecting the car, challenging them to “hit your hand there (on the car) and see whether it is a treated car.” He emphasized the importance of being careful not to tarnish people’s reputations with unfounded accusations.
Wike clarified, “When I arrived, the Permanent Secretary mentioned that there was a car for us, and this is the car we are using. I have never authorized the purchase of any car, and I am not utilizing an official bulletproof vehicle.”
Regarding his tenure as governor, he admitted to having official vehicles, noting, “As a governor, what would you expect me to have? However, as the FCT Minister, I am not using a bulletproof car. Therefore, let’s report accurately and avoid harming ourselves.”
He issued a challenge to the journalists, inviting them to examine his vehicle and determine whether it is indeed a bulletproof car, thus highlighting the importance of reporting factual information.
