alleged bribery and the misappropriation and diversion of public funds.

During an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Monday, Rimingado asserted that the legal proceedings against the former governor of Kano would move forward.

When queried about the continuation of the prosecution in light of his own recent arrest, Rimingado affirmed, “Yes, we are prosecuting him personally. In fact, this investigation commenced in 2021. I faced numerous challenges, including arrest, detention, assault, and humiliation. Upon my return, I resumed where I left off. Thus, I am not targeting anyone specifically.”

A Kano State High Court has postponed the hearing of preliminary objections in the case to February 13, 2025. The charges, brought by the Kano State Government, include an eight-count indictment related to bribery, misappropriation, and the diversion of public funds allegedly amounting to billions of naira.

Defendants alongside the former governor include his wife, Hafsat Umar, and several others: Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, as well as Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited.
