Buhari’s Rumoured ‘Death’: Obasanjo Makes Revelation

Nigeria’s ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo has finally reacted to reports that President Muhammadu Buhari is allegedly ‘dead’ and has been replaced by a clone from Sudan.

OBJ described the statement as ‘ridiculous’. The former leader revealed that he was approached by a very important person, who asked him about the truth about Buhari’s rumoured death.

According to him, the person told him that the information had gone viral on the social media. He wondered how Buhari could have died and be replaced with someone from Sudan without him knowing about it.

“Somebody came to me, a very high hub person, saying tell me about this talk of Buhari not being Buhari.”

“I said ‘do you believe them?’ He said, ‘well, it is in the social media’. I said ‘how will Buhari die and we will not know that Buhari has died and they will bring us somebody from Sudan to be Buhari?’”

“It’s ridiculous to the extreme. But you have it in the social media and you see people believing it,”

Obasanjo also expressed worry over the country’s population growth, disclosing that if the population is not properly managed, it will ruin the nation by 2050.  The statesman said this on Sunday while speaking at an event in Ogun state.

“We have moved from 120 million to over 200 million, we have added the population of France to our population, and if we continue the way we are going, by the year 2050, we will be the third-largest country in the world,” Mr Obasanjo said.

“If we continue, by the year 3000, we will be the largest country in the world. Now, what are we going to do to handle the situation? How are we going to handle that population?”

“If we don’t start getting it right now, we will not get it right by 2050.  But population by itself may not be a liability if we do what we have to do. But if we don’t do what we have to do – which we are not doing now – the population will become a liability.”

“We should educate ourselves about population management. Some people don’t like family planning and all that, but whatever you do, you must manage your population for the benefit of all that is within your nation.”
