According to Ireporter Online, Afrobeats star Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has opened up about his past relationship with the late South African rapper AKA.

The two artists reportedly fell out in 2019 after Burna Boy allegedly threatened to confront AKA following reports that the South African rapper encouraged xenophobic attacks against Nigerians. The tension reportedly stemmed from screenshots AKA shared, showing alleged hate messages from Nigerian accounts after AFCON quarterfinal banter.

Burna Boy has now revealed that the feud was resolved privately through Twitter direct messages before AKA’s death. In a posthumous birthday tribute on Instagram, Burna Boy expressed regret that the late rapper passed away before they could realize planned collaborations.

He wrote, “Happy birthday Supa Mega. We fell out over bullsh*t even though we squashed it over Twitter DMs nobody knew about, we never got the chance to really link up and do what we were supposed to do. I will regret that until I see you again. Until then, R.I.P Mega.”

AKA was shot dead by a gunman outside a restaurant in Durban on 10 February 2023, and the trial into his murder is ongoing.
