In a post shared on his official social media handle, Bwala expressed disappointment over Obi’s omission, questioning the sincerity of Obi’s commitment to Nigeria’s democratic ideals. He highlighted Obi’s failure to extend birthday wishes to President Tinubu as evidence that he might not be trustworthy to lead the country.

Bwala’s post read, “It is so disappointing that a man like @PeterObi who claims to be a statesman and cares about Nigeria and its democratic ideals but couldn’t wish @officialABAT who is the president of the republic a happy birthday. How can such a person be trusted to be a president by example and unite Nigeria? Yes-daddy-politics Opportunism is not patriotism.”

President Tinubu, who turned 72 on Friday, had announced his decision not to celebrate his birthday due to the country’s economic challenges. Despite this, other prominent politicians, including Reno Omokri, former President Muhammadu Buhari, and Mudashiru Obasa, conveyed their birthday wishes to Tinubu.

Former President Buhari, in a telephone conversation with Tinubu, reiterated his commitment to the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration under Tinubu’s leadership. Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, confirmed the conversation, stating that Buhari prayed for Tinubu’s success and well-being, emphasizing that the achievements of the administration must be seen as national accomplishments.
