ChatGPT Upgrades To GPT-4o For Enhanced Performance

OpenAI has announced that it will retire the GPT-4 model from ChatGPT by April 30, 2025, transitioning fully to GPT-4o—a more advanced and efficient version designed to deliver improved performance across various tasks, particularly in coding, mathematics, and science.

With this shift, ChatGPT’s 400 million weekly active users will benefit from a more responsive and technically proficient assistant, optimized for generating clean front-end code and managing complex technical challenges with increased accuracy and ease.

A portion of OpenAI’s announcement read: “Recent upgrades have further improved GPT‑4o’s instruction following, problem solving, and conversational flow, making it a natural successor to GPT-4.”

The company highlighted that GPT-4o now delivers cleaner, simpler code, better analyzes and modifies existing code, and produces outputs that compile and run more reliably—streamlining development workflows.

OpenAI also reported that early users of GPT-4o have observed enhanced creative performance and clearer, more concise communication in responses.

The upgraded GPT-4o model is now live in ChatGPT and accessible via API under the identifier “chatgpt-4o-latest.” OpenAI further noted that these improvements would soon be extended to an older API model in the coming weeks.
