Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed optimism that Kai Havertz could make a timely return from injury to strengthen the club’s pursuit of Champions League success.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League fixture against Brentford, Arteta provided a promising update on Havertz’s recovery progress.

“We’re hopeful he might be available before the season concludes,” Arteta stated on Friday. “Each injury is different, but he’s shown a fantastic work ethic and a strong desire to return quickly. We also have an excellent medical team supporting his recovery. As he approaches the final stages of rehabilitation, we’ll gain better clarity on his readiness.”

Havertz’s potential return could offer a significant lift to Arsenal, especially in light of Gabriel Jesus’s absence and the team’s tactical adjustments, including deploying Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino in a forward role.

The 25-year-old has scored 17 goals across all competitions this season. Despite some criticism of his finishing, Havertz’s experience—highlighted by his winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final for Chelsea—could prove invaluable during Arsenal’s critical final stretch.

With the return leg against Madrid just days away, Arteta declined to disclose whether he would rotate his squad for the Premier League clash.

“We have to maintain normalcy. This is our reality—competing every three days across top-level competitions. If we aim to consistently win on these stages, we must be ready to perform under any circumstances,” he explained.

Midfielder Declan Rice played a decisive role against Madrid, scoring two spectacular free-kicks—his first from set-pieces in his career. Arteta praised Rice’s evolution as a goal threat.

“We’ve had ongoing discussions about how he can create more attacking moments,” Arteta noted. “He has all the tools—pace, dribbling, a powerful shot. The goal is to help him become a player who can influence games in multiple ways.
