Socialite and businessman Cubana Chief Priest has admitted that his decision not to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 general election was a mistake. Speaking at a political event in Imo State, he revealed a strategic shift, declaring his intention to work with the federal government rather than oppose it.

“At the first election, I didn’t support President Tinubu. I had to be an Igbo boy and made some careless mistakes, but they say a first fool isn’t a fool; a second fool is a proper fool. Asiwaju is working and he will finish the work. Seyi Tinubu made me see President Tinubu,” he said.

He also praised Seyi Tinubu, describing him as a unifying figure who has strengthened ties across ethnic and regional lines.

According to Chief Priest, years of political opposition had failed to yield results, prompting his decision to partner with the government. “We have decided to work with the government at the center. We are not ready to fight. We tried fighting and it didn’t work for us,” he said.

Reflecting on his previous position, he added, “Politics is a game…we don’t want to lose again and we will never waste our votes again.” He expressed optimism that growing support for President Tinubu could evolve into one of Nigeria’s largest political movements and promised stronger mobilisation ahead of future elections. Chief Priest concluded by urging Nigerians to unite with the current administration and offered prayers for Tinubu’s success in office.
