Dangote Commends Tinubu’s Leadership in Open Letter Marking Two Years of Presidency

Nigerian billionaire and President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his “visionary leadership” and commitment to infrastructure development, in an open letter shared publicly to mark Tinubu’s two years in office.

In the letter titled “Appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” Dangote praised Tinubu for spearheading major projects such as the 8.5km Great Wall of Lagos and the Eko Atlantic City land reclamation, which have helped stem coastal erosion and expand urban space in Lagos.

Dangote wrote, “This success story is among your many legacies. Those of us living in Victoria Island are much better off for it,” referencing the transformation of Bar Beach and surrounding areas, which have long been prone to flooding.

He applauded the president’s efforts in addressing persistent flooding across key Lagos streets like Ahmadu Bello Way and Adetokunbo Ademola Street, as well as his administration’s initiation of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway and the Sokoto-Badagry superhighway.

He described the Sokoto-Badagry project as the “resurrection of a 48-year-old dream,” noting that the Tinubu government’s use of “first-rate firms like Hitech Construction” reflects its seriousness and competence.

Drawing comparisons to the Netherlands’ Zeeland region—renowned for reclaiming waterlogged land—Dangote said Tinubu’s environmental strategy mirrors international best practices in land use and climate resilience.

The industrialist also used the opportunity to sympathize with flood victims in Kerr County, Texas, drawing attention to the global relevance of climate adaptation projects such as those underway in Nigeria.

Presidential media adviser Bayo Onanuga, who shared the letter on social media platform , described it as “an honest and thoughtful assessment,” contrasting it with “baseless claims” by the opposition that the administration has underperformed.

Dangote’s public endorsement comes at a critical time for the Tinubu presidency, which has been under pressure over economic challenges, providing the administration with a rare and high-profile vote of confidence.
