Dollar Vs Naira: Latest Exchange Rate For March 18, 2026
According to Ireporter Online, the Nigerian currency continues to face pressure in the parallel foreign exchange market, with the naira trading against the United States dollar at varying rates across key hubs. Findings from Bureau De Change operators in Lagos indicate that on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the dollar was sold at ₦1430 and purchased at ₦1412 in the black market, commonly referred to as the Aboki FX segment.
Market sources reveal that these figures reflect ongoing fluctuations driven by demand and supply dynamics within the informal forex space, where rates often differ from official benchmarks. Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria has maintained its stance against the recognition of the parallel market, urging individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange transactions to utilize authorized financial institutions.
At the official window, data shows that the naira traded within a range, with the highest rate recorded at ₦1355 and the lowest at ₦1340 against the dollar. Financial analysts note that disparities between the official and parallel market rates persist due to structural challenges in forex liquidity and market confidence.
However, experts caution that exchange rates in the parallel market are highly volatile and may vary from one location to another, depending on transaction volumes and negotiation margins among traders.
