Dream Debut! Benzema Bags Hat-Trick For Al Hilal, Former Teammates Applaud

According to Ireporter Online, Karim Benzema announced his arrival at Al Hilal in emphatic fashion with a hat-trick performance in a 6–0 victory over Al Okhdood, just days after completing a surprise free transfer from Al Ittihad.

The 38-year-old former Real Madrid striker wasted little time in making his mark, opening his goal account shortly after the half-hour mark with an instinctive backheel finish after capitalising on a loose ball inside the box. Benzema doubled his tally on the hour with a composed low strike from close range before sealing his hat trick four minutes later with another predatory finish.

Beyond his goals, the former Ballon d’Or winner also contributed creatively, providing the assist for Malcom’s strike in the 71st minute. Salem Al Dawsari added further gloss to the dominant display with goals in the 74th and stoppage time to complete the rout.

Following the match, Benzema took to social media to express his delight with the performance and reception he received. He described himself as proud of the team and thanked supporters for their warm welcome.

His display quickly drew reactions from former Real Madrid teammates, with Luka Modric responding using fire emojis, Marcelo posting hearts and fire symbols, and Vinicius Junior praising him with a short message in Spanish.

However, Benzema’s switch to Al Hilal has continued to stir debate within Saudi football circles. Al Ittihad legend Mohamed Noor openly criticised the move, accusing the striker of disappointing the club and its supporters. Noor argued that Benzema struggled during his first season at Al Ittihad before eventually improving, largely due to the backing he received from fans.

He questioned the fairness of Benzema leaving after receiving such support and claimed the striker does not compare favourably to Cristiano Ronaldo, insisting he should not be mentioned in the same breath as the Portuguese star.

Reports indicate that Benzema had sought an exit from Al Ittihad during the January transfer window after failing to reach an agreement on revised contract terms, which would have required him to play part of the deal without pay. Displeased with the situation, the veteran forward ultimately chose to continue his career elsewhere in the Saudi Pro League.
