Okpebholo had claimed that the platform posed a security risk, being under the control of non-state actors, and ordered its review. He also directed ministries and agencies to continue using the platform during the review process.

In a swift response, Obaseki’s Media Adviser, Crusoe Osagie, called the decision regressive and an affront to Edo workers and citizens. He attributed the challenges with the system to the government’s indiscriminate sacking of key personnel who could have managed and trained others on the platform’s functionality.

Osagie further defended the platform’s integrity, stating it was managed by the Edo ICT Agency and supported by expert consultants. He criticized the current administration for lacking preparation and vision, urging it to build on the foundations laid by the previous government instead of undermining progress.

Obaseki also highlighted the existence of a Data Centre established during his administration, countering claims about the absence of institutional memory. He called for better governance practices and long-term planning to sustain the state’s development trajectory.
