Edo: Police Takes Action On Suspected Yahoo Boy Over Alleged Killing Of Girlfriend
On Tuesday, the Edo State Police Command paraded Victor Ochonogor, a self-proclaimed 400-level student of the University of Port-Harcourt and a suspected internet scammer, in connection with the alleged killing of his girlfriend in Benin City.
The incident in question involved a suspected ‘Yahoo boy’ who reportedly stabbed his girlfriend, identified as Success Regha, to death within his apartment in Benin City.
The tragic occurrence took place at 10, Osahon Street, Ogheghe Quarters, off Sapele Road, Benin City. The violence erupted while Ochonogor and his late girlfriend were inside the house.

Ochonogor’s landlord reported the incident to the police, prompting the authorities to swiftly take action. The report reached the police on Monday, August 21, 2023, at around 4 p.m., according to Commissioner of Police Dankwara Mohammed.
During the police parade, Ochonogor, aged 25, shared his perspective on the incident. He explained that he had been dating Success Regha for three years and she had traveled from Asaba to visit him in Benin. While together, she accused him of being involved in kidnapping, an accusation that deeply angered him.
Ochonogor, who claimed to be an undergraduate of the University of Port-Harcourt in the Applied and Industrial Chemistry department, expressed disbelief over the accusation.
He stated, “I have been dating her for three years now and she accused me of being a kidnapper. I asked her why she would accuse me of such a thing when we’ve been together for so long? I am not a kidnapper, and some members of her family know me well.”
He emphasized that the accusation of being a kidnapper was baseless, rhetorically questioning how a kidnapper could be in a relationship. Ochonogor denied killing his girlfriend out of jealousy regarding her potential marriage to another man.
Commissioner of Police Dankwara Mohammed confirmed that the case would be brought to court for prosecution. He also appealed to the public for vital information to help prevent crime and criminal activities.
