Ekiti Court Remands Man Over Alleged Threat To Woman’s Life

An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has ordered the remand of a 31-year-old man, Caleb Ajobor, at the correctional facility in Ado Ekiti for allegedly assaulting a woman and threatening her life.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the incident occurred on June 29, 2025, at Ekute Quarters in Ado Ekiti. He told the court that Ajobor assaulted one Omotayo Olowolagba by hitting her on the chest and acted in a way likely to breach public peace.

Oriyomi said the offences contravened sections 185, 46, and 181(d) of the Ekiti State laws of 2021, and urged the court to remand the defendant pending further hearing.

However, counsel to the defendant, Adunni Olanipekun, pleaded with the court to grant Ajobor bail, assuring that he would not jump bail.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun declined the bail application and ordered that the defendant be kept in the correctional centre. He adjourned the case until July 11 for hearing.
