“Everyone Will Start Moving With a Flask” — Former Rep Blasts Kwam 1’s New Role

Former House of Representatives member, Dachung Bagos, has criticised the Federal Government’s appointment of veteran Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, as an ambassador for airport security protocols, describing the move as a dangerous precedent.

Speaking during an interview on Thursday, Bagos argued that the decision sends the wrong message to the public, suggesting that controversial actions could become a pathway to national recognition.

“With all the drama, now he is an ambassador, meaning everybody will start moving with a flask, do drama to become an ambassador. No matter the explanation, the perception of Nigerians is that it is entirely wrong,” Bagos stated.

The former lawmaker also condemned reports that Ibom Air passenger Comfort Emmanson, who was recently involved in an aggressive altercation with airline staff, might be considered for a similar role. He warned that rewarding such behaviour could encourage disorderliness in the aviation sector.

Bagos questioned the government’s priorities, citing unresolved justice for victims of violence in Plateau State and criticising what he described as misplaced recognition. He further expressed concern over airport security procedures, wondering how Kwam 1’s liquid-filled bottle was allowed through screening, which contravenes standard regulations.

The Federal Government had announced Kwam 1’s appointment on Wednesday, following an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, 2025, which sparked debate over compliance with security rules. The move has drawn widespread backlash, with critics drawing comparisons to the Emmanson case, where the passenger allegedly assaulted a flight attendant and confronted security officers.
