Ex-Militant Leader Amagbein Applauds Tinubu’s New Service Chiefs, Calls Move ‘Timely And Strategic’

According to Ireporter Online, former Niger Delta militant leader, self-styled General Endurance Amagbein, has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing new service chiefs, describing the move as both timely and strategic in addressing Nigeria’s worsening security challenges.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Amagbein, who is popularly known as Adaka Boro the Second, expressed full confidence in the Tinubu-led administration, noting that the new security leadership would reinvigorate the country’s defence system and restore Nigeria’s global respect.

He congratulated the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major-General W. Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke; and Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Iddi Abbas. Amagbein also urged the Defence Chief to reopen investigations into the Okuama killings in Delta State, lamenting that despite the tragic loss of soldiers and the mass arrests that followed, no culprits had been brought to justice.

He alleged that certain “unscrupulous surveillance contractors” had manipulated the situation and misled authorities, resulting in the wrongful persecution of innocent people. Amagbein emphasized that the truth can only emerge through inclusive intelligence and collaboration between the armed forces and credible Niger Delta stakeholders whose cooperation has been crucial to sustaining peace in the region.

The ex-agitator also cautioned the newly appointed service chiefs against involvement in partisan politics, urging them to uphold the integrity and professionalism of the military. He reiterated his unwavering support for President Tinubu and the new military leadership in their efforts to safeguard the nation.

Amagbein particularly praised the appointment of Rear Admiral Iddi Abbas, recalling his outstanding integrity and professionalism during his time as Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command. He expressed optimism that the new service chiefs possess the experience and vision required to reposition the armed forces for enhanced performance and stability.

“I give them my total support now and always,” Amagbein declared, praying for divine wisdom, courage, and strength for the new military leaders to fulfill their national duties effectively.
