Explosive Rejection: Ohanaeze Disowns Calls For Fubara’s Impeachment Amid Rivers Crisis

Ohanaeze clarified that it holds no official stance on the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, stressing that the impeachment call did not come from the group.

A faction within Ohanaeze, however, issued a statement calling for the impeachment following the Supreme Court ruling that reinstated pro-Nyesom Wike lawmakers, including Speaker Amaewhule. The statement was attributed to factional Deputy President-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and National Publicity Secretary, Chief Chinenyeze Ohia.

Ohanaeze Secretary-General, Ezechi Chukwu, told Punch on Saturday that the claim was unfounded: “That statement did not come from us. We are not associated with it and have no position on the matter,” he said, urging the public to verify any information carefully.

As the political turmoil deepens, the Rivers State Assembly remains under the control of Amaewhule’s faction following the Supreme Court’s ruling.
