Manchester City booked their place in the FA Cup final after a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Southampton at Wembley Stadium, setting up a showdown against either Chelsea or Leeds United.

According to Ireporter Online, Pep Guardiola’s side endured a tense evening as they initially fell behind late in the game when Southampton’s Finn Azaz stunned the Premier League champions with a well-taken strike, putting the Championship side in control against the run of play.

City, who dominated possession for long spells, had earlier hit the woodwork, tested the goalkeeper on multiple occasions, and even saw a Southampton goal ruled out for offside, but struggled to convert their superiority into goals.

Southampton, unbeaten in 20 matches going into the tie, looked on course for a famous upset until City responded with late drama. Jeremy Doku brought the defending champions level with a deflected effort before Nico Gonzalez completed the turnaround with a powerful long-range strike in the closing minutes.

The result sends Manchester City into a record fourth consecutive FA Cup final and keeps their hopes of a second trophy this season alive following their Carabao Cup triumph over Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola now prepares for his 24th Wembley appearance in the last decade as City await the winner between Chelsea and Leeds United in Sunday’s semi-final.
