Faleke Reveals His Preferred APC Governorship Aspirant For Lagos 2027 Race

A member of the House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke, has declared his support for Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, as his preferred candidate for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.

Faleke made the endorsement via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, urging members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikeja Federal Constituency and across Lagos State to rally behind Hamzat ahead of the party’s upcoming primaries.

According to Ireporter Online, Faleke called on party loyalists to consolidate support for Hamzat, describing him as the ideal successor to lead Lagos State beyond 2027.

“Good evening all. As we prepare for Party primaries next month, I urge all our supporters in Ikeja Federal Constituency and Lagos State to support Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as the next Governor of Lagos State from 2027–2035 IJN. Amen!” he wrote.

The endorsement comes amid growing political discussions within the APC, where party leaders are reportedly considering a consensus arrangement that could position Hamzat as the party’s flagbearer in the forthcoming governorship election.

Party sources also revealed that broader consultations within the South-West APC are ongoing to determine key candidates for various elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The emerging consensus is believed to have followed a high-level meeting involving President Bola Tinubu and APC stakeholders from Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States, held in Lagos on March 23.

A source familiar with the discussions disclosed that the meeting involved extensive deliberations on zoning arrangements and candidate selection based on popularity and party strength across the affected states.
