According to reports from the Kwara State Fire Service, the harrowing event unfolded around 4:00 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Gaa Jangbo, Igbonna Road, in Offa local government area.

The initial mishap occurred when young Kaleed fell into the well while fetching water. In a heroic effort to save his son, Fasasi rushed to the scene. However, tragedy struck as Fasasi’s footing gave way, causing him to also plunge into the well.

Despite the swift response of the fire service, Fasasi could not be saved, and his lifeless body was recovered from the well. Fortunately, Kaleed was rescued alive, but the family is left devastated by the loss of their beloved father.

The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and urged the public to exercise caution in their daily activities. He particularly emphasized the need for parents to refrain from sending underage children to fetch water from domestic wells, highlighting the inherent risks involved.

As the community mourns this tragic loss, the selfless act of bravery displayed by Fasasi Afeez serves as a poignant reminder of a father’s unconditional love and sacrifice for his child.
