Fayose Warns PDP Leaders Against The Danger Of Expelling Wike
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has cautioned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against taking action to expel Nyesom Wike, a prominent PDP member who worked against the party during the 2023 presidential election and has since been appointed as a member of President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
Fayose warned against any moves to expel or fight against Wike, emphasizing that Wike is a significant force within and beyond the PDP that should not be underestimated.

“Some people say fight Wike, expel Wike, sack Wike. I think they do that at their own peril. You see, the first thing in your family even when you have extreme situations, or indifferences, is not to drive away your wife or husband. Wike is a force in the PDP and beyond PDP, a force you cannot ignore,” Fayose stated during an interview on Channels Television’s Hard Copy, a prerecorded show.
Fayose emphasized the need for unity within the PDP and the importance of working together to rebuild the party, which came second in the 2023 presidential election. He also reiterated his stance on the need for a southern president, emphasizing that it would have been unfair for the northern region to produce another president.
Regarding his own political future, Fayose made it clear that he has no intention of leaving the PDP or joining any other political party, including the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayose also addressed recent coups in Africa, attributing them to a “sit-tight syndrome,” where leaders attempt to remain in power for extended periods. While he does not support military intervention in politics, he expressed satisfaction with the developments in Gabon following a military takeover, stating that in countries where leaders cling to power for decades, change becomes necessary.
