FG Detects Thousands Of Civil Servants With Fake Employment Letters (DETAILS)

The Federal Government has identified 1,618 civil servants with fake employment letters as part of its efforts to prevent leakages and the infiltration of ghost workers in the civil service.

The Head of Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan, revealed this during a media parley ahead of the 2023 civil service week.

Yemi-Esan explained that the discovery was made after implementing control mechanisms in the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Personnel Information System (IPPIS) to address vulnerabilities. So far, 69,854 officers from the core Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across the country’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory have been captured.

The exercise also led to the suspension of some officers from the IPPIS platform for not uploading their records.

Additionally, the government is focused on revising the Duty Tour Allowances for civil servants.

The Presidential Committee on Salary Harmonization is working towards reviewing salaries to reduce disparities. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has already approved 40% of basic salary as Peculiar allowance, effective from January 2023. Furthermore, plans are underway for an upward review of the staff Duty Tour Allowance (DTA).
