A former member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Robinson Uwak, is facing serious allegations from his former secretary and ex-girlfriend, Godiya Midenda, who has accused him of physical assault and an attempted abduction.

“I made it clear that if we were to be involved, there were specific expectations — including a phone, ₦500,000, a job, and a laptop,” Midenda said. She added that Uwak declined her requests, leading her to end the relationship. However, the two later reconnected, though she noted he maintained sporadic contact and occasionally requested to meet.

Alleged Assault and Escape

The situation escalated late Monday night into the early hours of Tuesday, April 15. According to Midenda, she noticed Uwak near her residence earlier in the evening, and later received multiple calls and knocks at her door around 2 a.m., allegedly from someone relaying that Uwak wished to speak with her urgently.

Despite her initial refusal due to the late hour, she eventually agreed to meet him and entered his vehicle. Once inside, she said an argument broke out, during which Uwak allegedly assaulted her.

“He began hitting me in the face. I used my garment to shield myself. When I asked him to let me return home, he started driving off,” she said. Fearing for her safety as he approached the estate gate, Midenda said she felt compelled to jump from the moving vehicle.

“I pleaded with him to let me go, telling him I no longer wanted anything to do with him. When he refused, I had no choice but to jump out of the car,” she said, adding that the road was deserted at the time.

Photos obtained by SaharaReporters reportedly show visible injuries on her hands, legs, and back.

Efforts to contact Uwak for a response were unsuccessful. Phone calls went unanswered, and although messages sent via text and WhatsApp were delivered, he had not replied as of the time of publication.
