Former President Buhari Pays Tribute To Late Classmate, Zakari Ibrahim

who died on Sunday at the age of 81.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari described Zakari’s death as a personal loss and a significant blow to both the state and the nation.

Buhari acknowledged Zakari Ibrahim’s outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s security and intelligence community, both during his tenure as NIA Director-General from 1993 to 1998 and throughout his career in public service.

A native of Katsina State, Zakari Ibrahim was Nigeria’s first military lawyer and held several key positions, leaving a legacy of dedication and excellence in service.

Zakari’s funeral is set to follow Islamic rites, with dignitaries and well-wishers expected to honor his memory.

Buhari noted, “From the early stages of his career, Ambassador Zakari earned a reputation for his steadfast dedication to his work. His deep knowledge of the field, his talent for selecting skilled individuals for sensitive assignments, and his remarkable memory made him an exceptional intelligence officer.”

In his passing, Buhari stated, Nigeria’s intelligence and strategic community has lost one of its finest minds and role models. May Allah accept his deeds and preserve his legacy.”
