Furious Gov Yusuf Warns Ex-SSG Bichi: Stop Dragging Kwankwaso Through Political Filth!
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has strongly condemned the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, over allegations of corruption, including claims that ₦2 billion is being allocated monthly to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Speaking on Sunday during the first official meeting between his administration and the 444 ward councillors, Governor Yusuf dismissed Bichi’s accusations, describing him as mentally unfit to make credible statements.
He criticized Bichi for allegedly attempting to tarnish the image of Kwankwaso, vowing that such actions would not go unpunished.
“I believe Baffa Bichi is mentally unstable. If he were of sound mind, he wouldn’t be making these wild, baseless accusations, which have no connection to how a responsible government operates,” Yusuf stated.
He added, “Despite strong opposition from respected Islamic scholars and key stakeholders, we still appointed Bichi as SSG. Yet, he has now turned against us, launching unfounded attacks against our leader.”
The governor emphasized Kwankwaso’s distinguished record in public service, highlighting his roles as a two-term governor, senator, and respected former Minister of Defence.
“No one can point to any wrongdoing on Kwankwaso’s part. Attempts to smear his name will not be tolerated,” he declared.
Governor Yusuf also warned media outlets—especially radio stations—that provide platforms for Bichi to spread what he called false and defamatory content. He stated that legal action would be taken against any outlet promoting such narratives.
“We will not hesitate to pursue legal redress against any media organisation that gives airtime to Baffa Bichi’s reckless statements. This must stop,” he warned.
