SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the Rivers Police Command, condemned the heinous assault, revealing that the officers came under heavy gunfire from unidentified gunmen aboard a camouflaged Sienna bus during the operation near the Eliozu flyover on February 21st.

The attackers, wielding lethal weapons and concealed behind tinted glass, launched a sudden onslaught on the unsuspecting officers, mercilessly targeting them without provocation.

Despite the officers’ courageous efforts to defend themselves, one gallant inspector paid the ultimate sacrifice, laying down his life in the line of duty to protect the community he swore to serve.

However, the police team, undeterred by the ruthless assault, displayed remarkable bravery, swiftly engaging the assailants in a fierce gun battle. Amidst the chaos, one of the attackers, cloaked in a mask of anonymity, was neutralized by the courageous officers.
