Obanikoro drew attention to the nation’s heavily dollarized economy, attributing the country’s financial woes to both the actions of Nigerians and the complicity of banks in perpetuating this trend.
Addressing the interconnectedness of various national issues, Obanikoro underscored the correlation between security challenges and food scarcity, stressing that the latter is symptomatic of the overarching issue of poverty plaguing the country.
Expressing concern over the dollarization of the economy, Obanikoro lamented the historical recurrence of financial crises and pointed fingers at banks for their role in facilitating financial misconduct, urging against hasty condemnation of individuals amidst foreseeable circumstances.
While acknowledging President Bola Tinubu’s understanding of Nigeria’s complexities, Obanikoro called for effective communication from the government to enlighten citizens about its policies and plans for the future.
Despite the financial challenges inherited by the government, Obanikoro appealed for patience and understanding from Nigerians, urging them to give the administration time to navigate through these obstacles and implement effective solutions.
In essence, Obanikoro’s insights highlight the urgent need for holistic approaches to address poverty and economic instability, with a call for collective action and cooperation to steer Nigeria towards prosperity and sustainable development.
