Malama Khadija Rano, who allegedly divorced her husband to marry her daughter’s suitor, has been cleared by the Kano State Hisbah Board.

Lawan Ibrahim, the board’s public relations officer, announced the decision in a statement on Tuesday.

Hussain Ahmed, the Deputy Commander in Charge of Operations, presided over the investigation committee.

According to Ahmed, Khadija was divorced by her husband and followed Islam’s three-month waiting period (iddah).

She later married a man whom her biological daughter had previously rejected.

Hisbah denied allegations that she was seeing her current husband while married and instigated their divorce.

“The marriage is legal according to Islam, that was the reason Hisbah Commander in Rano Local Government Area supported and took part in the wedding rites,” he said.

Dr. Harun Ibn-Sina, General of Hisbah, stated that the committee members were chosen based on their knowledge of Islamic teachings and societal orientation.

Ibn-Sina advised the general public to stop spreading false information and to avoid misconceptions about Islamic issues.
