Hisbah Seizes, Destroys 260 Cartons Of Alcoholic Drinks In Bauchi – [Photos]

Bauchi State chapter of the Islamic police popularly known as Hisbah has seized and burnt to ashes no fewer than 260 cartons of alcoholic drinks in the Misau Local Government Area of the state.

The Permanent Commissioner in charge of Hisbah, Barrister Aminu Isah, made this known to newsmen on Sunday evening, Naija News understands.

According to Isah, the action was taken to keep up with the commitment and determination of the organization in ensuring that the provision of Sharia is dully observed in the state without vindictiveness, witchhunt, fear or favour.

The commissioner noted that the exercise was conducted in the presence of security agencies and the Chairman of the Bauchi State Shariah Commission. Isah reiterated that Hisbah acted based on Section 403 of the Bauchi State law which empowers it to stop the sale and consumption of alcohol in the state.

He said: “The state Hisbah command would like to reiterate its commitment and determination in ensuring that the provision of Sharia will continue to be fully implemented across the state and without vindictiveness, witchhunt, fear or favour,” the statement reads.

“While we solicit for understanding and cooperation of all and sundry, the state Sharia commission wishes to appreciate the people of the state for their understanding and cooperation which serves as the catalyst for the successes recorded in making Bauchi a crime-free society.”
