During a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, Olawande highlighted the recent directive that lifts the ban on posting corps members to private sector organizations. The move, which was officially approved on November 19, 2024, allows NYSC members to serve in prestigious private institutions, including banks, oil and gas companies, and more.

Olawande emphasized that the new policy would take effect with the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1, who have just completed their orientation at the NYSC camps. The Ministry of Youth Development is working closely with employers to ensure that these young Nigerians have valuable, impactful placements throughout their service year.

In his passionate plea, Olawande said, “I’m appealing to all employers, please accept these young people into your organizations. For the future of this country, let’s give them a chance to serve. We’ve removed all the barriers to their postings, and I’m begging for your cooperation. When corps members are posted to you, please take them in.”

The Minister also stressed that the Ministry’s goal is to empower and protect the youth of Nigeria, ensuring that their service year becomes a stepping stone for personal growth and career advancement.

“It’s time for the youth to be heard, supported, and protected,” Olawande stated. “We’re committed to making their time in service meaningful, and we will collaborate with you to make sure they get the most out of this experience.”
