History Made: Guinness World Records Confirms Hilda Baci’s Jollof Rice Triumph

According to Ireporter Online, Guinness World Records has officially confirmed Nigerian chef Hilda Baci’s remarkable feat of preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing an astonishing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lb 9 oz).

The record-breaking event, held in partnership with Gino on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Victoria Island, Lagos, attracted massive attention both at the venue and across social media platforms. Among those present to celebrate the achievement were Ogun State First Lady, Bamidele Abiodun, and award-winning actress Funke Akindele, who commended Baci for her resilience and determination.

Guinness World Records announced the new milestone, stating: “New Record: Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”

To accomplish the feat, Baci cooked with 200 bags of rice weighing 4,000 kilograms, using a specially designed pot with a capacity of 22,619 liters, which she aimed to fill up to 80%. The giant meal was sufficient to serve over 20,000 people.

During her attempt, Guinness World Records also extended words of encouragement, wishing her success in completing the challenge.
