According to reports, four people lost their lives and eleven others were injured in a tragic road accident on the Lokoja-Ajaokuta highway in Kogi State on Sunday.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that the crash occurred at Jimgbe Community in Ajaokuta Local Government Area. The accident involved an 18-seater Toyota commercial bus traveling from Enugu to Abuja.
The Kogi State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Tenimu Etuku, explained that the driver attempted to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming truck but ended up colliding with a stationary, faulty truck on the road.
FRSC personnel quickly responded to the scene, rescuing the injured and transporting them to the Kogi State Specialist Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the four deceased victims were also taken to the hospital morgue.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, Etuku urged motorists to remain vigilant on highways, stressing that safe motoring requires constant attention and caution.
