Nigerian singer Bigiano has asserted that he was the creative force behind the hit song Dami Duro, performed by fellow artist Davido, claiming responsibility for the song’s iconic hook.

In a recent interview with content creator Akin Abolade, Bigiano discussed his career, his hiatus from music, and his contribution to one of Davido’s early breakout hits. According to him, his input was instrumental in the track’s success, which debuted in 2011 and helped propel Davido into mainstream recognition.

“I wrote Dami Duro for Davido. I wrote the hook,” Bigiano stated during the conversation. Despite this claim, he has not received official credit as a co-writer on the song.

Dami Duro continues to be one of Davido’s most defining tracks, frequently cited among the greatest Afrobeats songs of all time by both local and international music critics, cementing its place in Nigerian music history.

Addressing his extended absence from the music industry, Bigiano described his break as a deliberate strategy aimed at preparing for a stronger comeback. “Sometimes, you have to take a break to be able to come back again. I went on a sabbatical to make my return to music massive,” he explained.

He also refuted claims that financial difficulties prompted his hiatus, insisting that he remains financially stable. “I can’t be broke,” he added.

As of the time of this report, Davido has not publicly responded to Bigiano’s claims regarding his involvement in Dami Duro.

According to industry observers, the song remains a significant milestone in Davido’s career.
