I Joked About His Height” – Yul Edochie Opens Up On Painful Last Memory With Son

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has recounted the heartbreaking final moments he shared with his first son, Kambilichukwu Edochie, before the boy’s tragic death in 2023.

According to Ireporter Online, the actor made the emotional revelation during an interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast produced by Glitch Africa Studios, where he described how the day began on a normal and cheerful note at their home.

He explained that his son had entered his room in the morning before leaving for school, and the two spent time talking, laughing, and joking about his height. Edochie noted that his son had grown significantly tall and was nearly his height, adding that the boy even mentioned that only one student in his class was taller than him, a comment they both laughed about.

The actor said the mood changed drastically just a few hours later when he received a distress call asking him to come to a hospital. He rushed over without any idea of what had happened, only to arrive and find his son lifeless.

Edochie further described how the joyful morning conversation turned into an unbearable tragedy within hours, noting that the memory of their final interaction remains vivid because nothing about it hinted at what would follow.

He was quoted as saying: “That was my first son. That morning, he came into my room before going to school. We talked and joked about his height because he was quite tall. He was almost taller than me at that time, we joked about it and he told me only one boy was taller than him in his class. We gisted and laughed, then he left. About three hours after they called me, I came to the hospital and I saw him dead like this.”
