I Prayed And Cried, Even Placed EFCC Boss On The Altar — Jerry Eze Speaks On Fraud Probe Scare

According to Ireporter Online, Senior Pastor of Streams of Joy International, Jerry Eze, has reacted to remarks made by the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, concerning a previous investigation into alleged money laundering linked to him.

Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja during a business grant programme organised by his foundation, the cleric opened up on the emotional strain he experienced during the period he was under EFCC scrutiny. He described it as a difficult phase, stating that he often struggled to understand why he was being investigated despite believing he had committed no wrongdoing.

He explained that the development weighed heavily on him, affecting his daily routine, particularly during early morning religious programmes, where he said he sometimes became overwhelmed while seeking divine intervention. Jerry Eze also recounted confiding in close associates, including fellow pastors, as he tried to process the situation and find reassurance.

Despite the emotional burden, he noted that the outcome of the investigation eventually brought relief, as the anti-graft agency reportedly found no evidence of wrongdoing after reviewing his financial records. He expressed gratitude to God following the clearance.

The EFCC chairman had earlier disclosed that the commission conducted a six-month investigation after receiving intelligence on large foreign currency inflows into accounts linked to the cleric. According to him, the agency traced and examined the transactions before inviting Eze for clarification, where he explained that the funds were connected to his ministry and charitable activities. Olukoyede stated that no offence was established and that the pastor was subsequently cleared.
