IGP Directs Intensified Security Measures Nationwide Ahead Of Eid-el-Fitr Celebration

In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Monday in Abuja, the I-G instructed CPs and their supervisory Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) to ensure comprehensive deployment of officers and resources of the Force.

Egbetokun emphasized the need for senior officers to oversee thorough deployments covering critical locations, Eid prayer grounds, and recreational centers to instill confidence among citizens and fun-seekers.

The directive aims to conduct comprehensive assessments of areas prone to threats, implement stringent stop-and-search procedures, and conduct raids on identified black spots, employing various anti-crime strategies to maintain peace and ensure public safety throughout the country.

The police boss urged deployed personnel to exhibit professionalism, vigilance, and respect for citizens’ fundamental rights while discharging their duties with utmost decorum and alertness.

Egbetokun called on the public to abide by security tips, respect law enforcement agents deployed at strategic locations for the protection of lives and property, and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the police.

Extending his felicitations to the Muslim Ummah in the country as they celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, the I-G urged Muslim faithful to embrace the spirit of the occasion while remaining vigilant and cooperative with law enforcement efforts.
