Indigenous Groups In Lagos Endorse Tinubu

According to Ireporter Online, the endorsement was made at the end of a summit themed “Promoting Greater Participation of Lagos State Indigenes in Governance and Politics,” where participants unanimously expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The 17-point communiqué issued at the event and signed by the convener, Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, alongside other prominent Lagos indigenes, stated that there was no alternative candidate better positioned for the presidency in 2027 than Tinubu, whom they referred to as “our own.”

The summit, held at Eko Club in Surulere, Lagos, and chaired by Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole, brought together traditional rulers, community leaders, and representatives from indigenous associations across the five IBILE divisions of the state. Notable figures including Pa Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi and academic experts such as Prof. Olanrewaju Fagboun and Prof. Olumuyiwa Noah also contributed to discussions.

The communiqué outlined several resolutions, including a reaffirmation of support for Tinubu’s administration, a call for stronger indigenous participation in governance, and the need for increased political awareness among youths. It further emphasized collaboration among indigenous groups, civic education, cultural preservation, and greater use of digital platforms to enhance engagement.

Participants urged indigenes to move from passive observation to active involvement in politics and community development, stressing that unity and sustained participation were key to long-term influence and prosperity for Lagos natives.

The forum concluded by reiterating its backing for President Tinubu’s continued leadership and second-term ambition as the 2027 presidential election approaches.
