INEC Reveals Parties That Have Collected Access Codes Ahead Of 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that nine registered political parties have successfully obtained access codes required for the upload of candidates’ details ahead of the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.

According to Ireporter Online, the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Voter Education and Publicity, Mallam Mohammed Haruna, disclosed this to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, noting that the update reflects the situation as of the close of work on Monday.

Haruna stated that nine political parties had so far collected their access codes for the national elections, adding that it remains the responsibility of parties to initiate the process by approaching the commission rather than INEC distributing the codes to party offices.

The political parties that have obtained the access codes include Accord (A), Action Alliance (AA), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), National Democratic Party (NDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

He further explained that any representative collecting the code on behalf of a political party must present an official authorisation letter from the party’s leadership, stressing that INEC has already provided clear guidelines and trained party officials on the nomination process.

Haruna also urged political parties to strictly comply with the commission’s guidelines and avoid last-minute submissions, warning that delays would not be excused given the flexibility already provided in the timeline.

He noted that INEC has extended the submission window up to midnight of the deadline date, adding that parties that fail to act promptly would be solely responsible for any resulting challenges.

The commission has fixed July 11, 2026, as the deadline for the upload of presidential and National Assembly nominations, while submissions for governorship and State Assembly candidates will run from July 18 to August 8.
