According to Ireporter Online, governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have held a strategic meeting with the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, as part of intensified efforts to address internal disagreements ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, convened under the auspices of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), followed growing tensions and controversies that trailed the party’s recent nationwide primaries.

Speaking to journalists after the closed-door session, the Chairman of the forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, confirmed that discussions centered on reviewing the outcomes of the primaries conducted across the country, the APC’s performance in the recent Ekiti State governorship election, and results of several bye-elections.

The high-level engagement was attended by governors from Ekiti, Zamfara, Taraba, Lagos, Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Gombe, Kebbi, Akwa Ibom, and Borno States, among others.

The party’s May primaries had reportedly generated widespread complaints, including allegations of irregular voting processes, imposition of candidates, and manipulation of delegate lists, which sparked internal dissatisfaction within the ruling party. The situation reportedly compelled the party’s national leadership to delay the public release of its final candidates’ list in a bid to manage the crisis.

Governor Uzodimma stated that the governors agreed to continue consultations with the national leadership to harmonize strategies, reconcile aggrieved members, and strengthen unity within the party ahead of the 2027 polls.

He further noted that the forum expressed satisfaction with the APC’s recent electoral performances, describing them as encouraging signs ahead of the next general elections.

“We reviewed the outcome of the primaries across the federation, the Ekiti governorship election and the various bye-elections where our party performed impressively,” Uzodimma said.

“We have resolved to work towards solving the challenges facing our democratic space and ensuring that our people are better off,” he added.

Beyond electoral matters, the governors also deliberated on governance issues, democratic consolidation, and strategies to ensure improved delivery of dividends of democracy under APC-led administrations.
