“Injustice” – Atiku, Obi’s Aides Condemn Akpabio As Natasha Faces Six-Month Suspension

The camps of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have reacted strongly to the six-month suspension of Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, over her dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio……..READ MORE

Ireporteronline reports that Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended on Thursday based on a recommendation by the Senate Ethics and Values Committee. Her offense was rejecting a new seating arrangement and accusing Akpabio of sexual harassment on live TV—claims the Senate deemed damaging to the institution’s reputation.

Speaking on the issue, Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, condemned the suspension, questioning the Senate’s decision to act without an investigation.

“There was no investigation. Atiku’s stance remains unchanged. This raises concerns about Nigeria’s commitment to creating a fair environment for women in politics,” he stated.

He further emphasized that suspending Akpoti-Uduaghan without due process undermines affirmative action and marginalizes women’s participation in leadership.

“With International Women’s Day approaching, this decision casts a shadow on gender inclusion in governance,” Ibe added.

Similarly, Peter Obi’s camp, through the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Tanko Yunusa, expressed disappointment over the Senate’s decision.

“This situation is deeply troubling and speaks to the larger issues of fairness and justice in our democratic institutions,” Yunusa remarked.
