‘It Is Useless to Celebrate the Death of Anyone’ – Pere Egbi Urges Nigerians to Show Decency Following Buhari’s Demise
Nigerian reality TV star and actor, Pere Egbi, has issued a heartfelt appeal to Nigerians, urging them to refrain from rejoicing over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, regardless of political or personal opinions.
The former Big Brother Naija housemate shared his thoughts in a post on social media, describing the public celebrations over Buhari’s passing as insensitive and devoid of moral value.
“This is a sad day for Nigeria and Nigerians,” Pere wrote. “While you weren’t a perfect man or leader—because no man is—you gave your all to the country. May God grant your family the fortitude to bear this great loss.”
Pere emphasized that death is a final equalizer, wiping a person off the face of the earth regardless of how they lived. He said all judgments now lie in the hands of God, and that celebrating anyone’s demise achieves nothing.
“One thing about death: when it comes, you are wiped clean off the earth. Whether love or hate, you’re gone. That’s why it’s useless to celebrate and be happy over the death of anyone,” he wrote.
He continued, “They are now history. They are now being questioned by the Most High. So you that is wanting to celebrate the death of PMB, what exactly is your gain? Nothing.”
While acknowledging Buhari’s flaws, Pere maintained that the late President did what he believed was best during his time in power and deserved respect in death.
His comments join a wave of national and global reactions to the former president’s death, as tributes, criticisms, and reflections continue to pour in from political figures, celebrities, and ordinary citizens alike.
