Michael Akpobire, an aide to Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, has resigned.
His letter, dated January 5, was addressed to the Secretary of State.

Some speculate that Akpobire resigned to join the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2023 election.
Ovie Omo-Agege, the Deputy Senate President, is the party’s governorship candidate.
Akpobire previously served as President of the Delta State University Students’ Union.
He was the leader of the Canaan Land Movement, one of the groups that campaigned for Okowa ahead of the 2015 general election.
When Emmanuel Uduaghan was governor, the young politician served as Senior Special Assistant on Students Affairs and later as a director in the Direct Labour Agency (DLA).
