Just In: Kano State Government Orders Demolition Of Former Emir’s Palace For Renovation

Kano State has ordered the demolition of the palace of the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado-Bayero. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Dederi, stated that the demolition will facilitate the renovation of the palace. The Commissioner of Police has been instructed to remove Bayero from his residence at the Nasarawa GRA mini palace.

At a press conference, Dederi announced, “The government has concluded arrangements for the general reconstruction and renovation of the property, including the immediate demolition and reconstruction of the dilapidated wall fence.”

This decision follows a Federal High Court ruling that validated the Kano Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024 but nullified actions taken by Governor Abba Yusuf after the law’s passage.
