JUST IN: Labour Party Chairman Defects To APC
Mr. Chinedu Nwokposhi, chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Ebonyi State’s Onicha local government area, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Nwokposhi joined the ruling party on Sunday, with over 15,000 Labour Party supporters in his Ishinkwo Ukawu ward.
Addressing the APC family in his ward at a mini rally to welcome him into the APC held in his Ukawu community, Nwokposhi, a former Coordinator of Ukaba Development Centre, said he left the Labour party because it lacked direction and focus.
He went on to say that his decision to join the APC was motivated by his desire to see Governor David Umahi elected as the next Senator for Ebonyi South and Chief Francis Nwifuru elected as the next Governor of Ebonyi State.
The Chairman of Onicha Local Government Council, Chief Chidiebere Uzor, who received the defectors on behalf of the APC leadership in the state, commended them for their decision to join the APC, adding that only the ruling APC has the capacity to win elections in the state.
He assured them that they would be carried along in the scheme of things while urging them to work tirelessly for the victory of Governor David Umahi, Chief Francis Nwifuru, and all APC candidates in the upcoming elections.
